I Believe …

 


I believe that in the beginning God existed in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I believe that in the beginning God created both the heavens and the earth in six literal days, then rested on the seventh day as a witness to his own awesome power.

I believe that the earth was perfect in every way, with plants and animals much like the ones we know today.

I believe that God created man from the dust of the earth, and woman from the rib of the man.

I believe that both the man and woman fell into temptation and rebelled against their Creator.

I believe that when sin entered the world, death came with it and led to the fallen creation we know today.

I believe that by its own means, humanity is depraved, desiring only what is evil.

I believe that God, in his divine providence, appointed righteous men to testify to the truth of God.

I believe that the truth that these people were sent to proclaim pointed to Jesus, the only begotten Son of God.

I believe that the people of Israel are God’s chosen people and were appointed as his witnesses to the nations.

I believe that God gave Israel his law to guide them in righteousness.

I believe that in order for God to be both holy and just, he cannot leave unpunished.

I believe that God sent his son, Jesus, to preach love and forgiveness of sins, and to be the only sacrifice worthy to fulfill the wrath demanded by God’s holy law.

I believe that when Jesus came as the Messiah to the Jews, they rejected the truth, and had him crucified at the hands of the Romans.

I believe that Jesus died on the cross willingly, sinless, and perfectly righteous before God.

I believe that Jesus is so holy, worthy, and true that death could not hold him and God raised him back to life on the third day as a testament to humanity of the truth of his message.

I believe that Jesus’ death was sufficient to atone for my all of my sins, past, present, and future.

I believe that God loves you so much that he died just for the chance that he might get to spend eternity with you.

I believe that God will not forget his own.

I believe that we are in the church age, where every redeemed sinner is called by God to carry Jesus’ message to all corners of the globe.

I believe that until the last day, persecution, war, famine, and natural disasters will increase, as the whole of creation groans and suffers.

I believe that in the last days God will rescue those who love him from the great and terrible Day of the Lord.

I believe that faithful believers are heirs of God, and will live forever in his glory.

I believe that the unbelievers will face a judgement that will find no man righteous, and receive their just punishment.

I believe that I deserve the same punishment, but Jesus experienced a torturous death so that I wouldn’t have to.

I believe that the world will hate me for saying this, but Christ would be ashamed if I didn’t.

I believe that God’s love is without bounds, no one is beyond his grace.

I believe that God loves you enough to die for you, and is willing to forgive anything you ask him to.

The Gift of Becoming

  God, in wisdom, gave us wheat, not bread, Fruit in seed, not wine in cup, A gift of raw becoming, A chance for hands to shape and souls to rise.
